Hi everyone!

I'm excited to share that I'll be running 20k in April to raise money for Emmaus. Recent figures from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government show that over 320,000 households faced homelessness between 2023-2024, the highest number on record. This is an 8% increase from last year, meaning more people than the entire population of Nottingham are now homeless in England, according to Crisis.

At Ginger Nut, our staff and learners believe that those facing homelessness or at risk of it deserve our support, care, and love. That's why in April 2025, we'll be raising funds for Emmaus Colchester.

Emmaus Colchester provides a home and meaningful work for up to 31 people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion. Their purpose-built community offers a comfortable home, while their shops, online store, house clearance business, and warehouse provide work and generate the funding to keep the community going.

Emmaus understands that overcoming homelessness often means more than just having a roof over your head. They support people in working their way out of homelessness by providing meaningful work experience, training, tailored one-to-one support, and a stable home for as long as needed.
