Fundraising for the Leeds Adult Transplant Team

Claire Zammuto is raising money for Leeds Hospitals Charity

British Transplant Games - 5K road race · 8 August 2026

We're fundraising to send 'Team Leeds' to the Transplant Games, an annual sporting event celebrating transplant patients and the donor families. The 2026 games will be held in Sheffield!

Story

Imagine being fit and healthy and one day wake up feeling a bit "off", so you carry on thinking everything will be ok "tomorrow". Then everyday feeling sicker, but then you realise something isn't right and end up in A&E. 48hrs later to be told that your kidneys have failed and they will never recover.

That was me 2.5yrs ago! The worst time of my life and also the effects on my husband and family. Having to endure endless medical treatments, huge amounts of drugs, several times a day and 4Hr dialysis sessions 3 times a week. 😢

Thanks to the amazing Renal and Transplant team at St James Hospital in Leeds, and my wonderful, caring sister, I'm finally getting my life back together.

Please, please, please support my fundraising efforts to help everyone suffering the terrible disease that kidney failure brings, very rarely does anyone deserve this, and those who get the gift of a donor may have the opportunity to live a life they really deserve!
