Claire and Ness take on the Alpine Challenge for Spinal Research

Alpine Experience 2025 · 28 May 2025 to 1 June 2025 ·
Claire and I have supported Spinal research since 2010 when my daughter Bel (Claire’s niece) fell from a climbing frame aged 8 and broke her neck at C2 leaving her paralysed from the neck down. Bel is now 23 and works for Spinal Research as a Fundraising Assistant. Raising money for Spinal Research is a true family affair as we know first hand the devastating effects of a spinal injury and we live in increasing hope that the work Spinal Research do will one day give us a cure.
Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. There are an estimated 105,000 in the UK living with an injury.
We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for our research. Because of the efforts of our supporters, we have funded innovative medical research that has achieved a number of ground breaking changes in the field.
