Welcome to the Birmingham climbs Kilimanjaro campaign! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

Hi everyone

In August 2024, I will be taking on the huge challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain with students from the University of Birmingham. I am raising money for The Meningitis Research Foundation.

Meningitis affects more than 2.5million people globally each year.

Meningitis is the swelling of the meninges, which is the lining around the brain and spinal cord, caused mainly by germs entering the body. Meningitis is life threatening and can kill within hours.

There are vaccines available that protect against some of the most common causes of meningitis. However, there are still some causes of meningitis which are not vaccine preventable and some vaccines are not routinely provided in some parts of the world.

I am currently brainstorming various fundraising ideas and would appreciate any support & suggestions in reaching my fundraising goal of £4,650!! I will share updates of future events that I will be participating in.

From now until August I will organise and take part in many fundraising events. Any small donations would be much appreciated and can go a very long way in this amazing charity’s goal to eradicate meningitis by 2030.

Thank you

Clara 😊
