Story
As a woman that is known for her curly hair with crazy dyed blondeness, why would I willingly choose to cut it all off?
Firstly, because I want to support my Mum who has lost her hair during chemo treatment. She has been very brave battling cancer for a second time, and I just want her to know I stand with her.
Secondly, I want to raise lots of money (please!) for LOROS in memory our lovely Liz. She was a formidable crafting force at my Crochet and Chat group at Harborough Indoor Market. Her talent at crochet, knitting, sewing and crafting was phenomenal and her generosity knew no bounds. She spent her last days peacefully at LOROS hospice, with her family. It's really important that they get funds to continue their excellent work.
Thirdly, in memory of my godmother Karen, who passed away suddenly. She had been my role model and mentor when I was growing up.
Fourthly, because a friend battling cancer recently said, "The loss of self is the hardest part". Removing my hair temporarily seems such a small sacrifice.
Fifthly, because I am extremely lazy! Running, walking, swimming, cycling for miles on end is definitely not my thing!! And as for baking...forget it!
So that's why I'm doing it, when you feel like you can't do anything, you just have to do something. So please give generously. You can even come to Harborough Indoor Market on Thursday 28th August to watch the Crochet and Chat ladies help me lose my locks!
LOROS is a charity whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of adult patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible. Patients are treated at the Hospice and in the community based upon clinical need, regardless of background and the ability to pay.
