An update: 20 July! >>>
I am 40 miles into the 120... a fair bit to go by the end of the challenge... including a holiday! Better pack my running kit!
Having started running on a second-hand treadmill during lockdown, by 2021 I was running 3-4 times a week, including the Saturday morning Park Run by the sea in Folkestone.
At Easter 2022, I finally caught COVID, which completely floored me and put my running back almost to the start.
Fast forward to Christmas 2022 and I am running regularly … then I catch COVID again. This bout left me with horrid asthma and the most painful and persistent cough (which still lingers).
After chest Xray, steroids and experimenting with various inhaler regimes, I am finally feeling able to start running again – and I am spurred on by the Million Miles challenge and raising some much needed funds for local charities!
I am currently running (jogging…😊) around 2.5/3k in the same time I used to complete a 5k – and hope to build my speed, stamina and distance during the course of the Million Miles to return to a sub-30minute 5k. I have decided to pledge 120 miles of lumbering/jogging/running during the Million Miles Campaign (June to September).
