Maggie's on the Runway is a live fundraising event on 17th November to raise money for Maggie's, a brilliant charity that provides emotional, practical and financial support to anyone affected by cancer and their families.

I’m not on a journey. Nor fighting a battle, a war, or even a low-level skirmish. But I do have stage 4 cancer and the Manchester Maggie’s Centre, adjacent to where I’m being treated at the Christie, provides a beautiful, welcoming space and support for people like me with cancer. Maggie’s is entirely self-funding, relying solely on donations and fund-raising events to enable it to stay open.

I’ve very nervously signed up to sing in a choir at this fundraising event. It's well out of my comfort zone and making me feel anxious every time I think about it but I will get to see Rick Astley. Possibly even stand behind him making faces. Or warbling like a songbird. Who knows?
