Story
Clare's Venice Marathon Fundraiser for The Eric Liddell Community
I made a 3 minute video directly after my 22 mile training run to explain a little bit in my own words about the charity I have chosen for my personal challenge. From the first time I saw Chariots of Fire as a child I have been inspired by Eric Liddell's amazing life and legacy. I am proud to be channelling my training with his beautiful words in my heart. I will never be fast but I will always do my best.
"In the dust of defeat as well as the laurels of victory there is a glory to be found if one has done his best."
Here are a few words from the Eric Liddell Community so you have an idea what you money is supporting. I know you will agree with me that it is a very worthy cause...what a vision! Wouldn't the world be a better place if this vision was nationwide!
Our vision is a community in which no one feels lonely or isolated. We're on a mission to bring people together in their local community to improve their health and wellbeing. We are doing this through a range of services and delivery of: our programme of support for people living with dementia, programme of support for unpaid carers and our intergenerational Community Hub Programme.
"I need to get out and meet people, I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t come here and to these lunches, this place is my saving grace" - Unpaid Carer
