Story

In April, I’ll be running the London Marathon for the Samaritans, a charity that means a lot to me. Their work supporting people who feel lost, hopeless, or suicidal is truly life-saving.

I’m running in memory of my sister Kate, who sadly took her own life at 15. It’s something that changed our lives forever - an experience I can never fully put into words. We now talk much more openly about mental health and that’s great, but back in the early 2000’s we really didn’t, it’s getting better but there’s still a long way to go. It’s an experience that never leaves you for so many reasons and I still struggle to talk about it now.

So! On a brighter note my hope is by supporting a wonderful charity like the Samaritans, we can help ensure no one feels like they have nowhere to turn. Help remind people that there is always another option - always a reason to keep going.

EEEK! I’ll be hanging on to that PMA as I make my way through 26.2 miles of London. I’m not the fastest, I’m not chasing records, but I am determined to do it, it will just be too mortifying not to, eughhh imagine?!

Right I better lace up and get out there, I hope you can spare a few quid and help get me through my biggest challenge to date!

Why Samaritans need your support:

We know that life can sometimes be incredibly tough. Thanks to the dedication of more than 20,000 volunteers, Samaritans can be there for anyone, whatever they are going through and whenever they are struggling to cope. We’re also at the heart of local communities, working with schools, workplaces, railways, prisons and hospitals to offer training and support, preventing suicide and helping people turn their lives around.
