I am running the Southport Santa Dash 2023 to raise money for two charities. The first is the local hospice that organises the event and the second is a cancer support charity that made such a difference to my Mum after she underwent treatment for mouth cancer two years ago.

In 2021, Mum underwent a 10-hour operation followed by six weeks of radiotherapy to treat mouth cancer. She was told she might not be able to speak again after the operation and suffered really painful side effects from the treatment. But thanks to the marvellous NHS doctors and nurses, my amazing and resilient mum has made a remarkable recovery, is back singing in a choir and is still one of the chattiest people I know.

When mum was recovering from surgery, therapists at Jane Scarth House, provided mum with wellbeing treatments and someone to talk to about the life changing events. I know mum really valued her sessions at Jane Scarth House.
