Story

Fundraising in Memory of Wendy: A Tribute to a Beautiful Soul.

It’s with a heavy heart that I write this blog, as we come together to honour the memory of a truly remarkable woman. Wendy was more than just a friend and a co-worker—she was a bright light in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Wendy’s kindness, generosity, humour, and infectious smile touched every person she encountered, and her absence has left a hole in our hearts that is impossible to fill.

Wendy wasn’t just a colleague; she was someone who made work feel like a second home. Her spirit, work ethic, and the way she cared for those around her made every day a little better. Whether it was her thoughtful gestures, her ability to make us laugh during tough times, or her unwavering support for those in need, Wendy's presence was truly something special.

The world feels a little less without her here, and we find ourselves missing her every single day. But while she may no longer be with us physically, her impact will live on forever in the countless memories she created, and in the hearts of everyone who loved her.

The Purpose of This Fundraiser

In Wendy’s memory, we are raising funds to support a cause that were dear to her heart. She was someone who always wanted to give back, and this fundraiser is a way for us to honour that part of her legacy. The funds raised will go toward supporting Bowel Cancer UK a cause that Wendy held close. This is an opportunity for us to continue her work of making the world a better place, just as she always did.

We invite you to join us in this effort, no matter how big or small your contribution may be. Every donation is a step forward in ensuring Wendy’s kindness and generosity continue to inspire others.

Why Your Support Matters

Every pound raised will help create a lasting impact in Wendy’s name. By contributing to this fundraiser, you’re not only honouring her memory, but you’re also helping to carry forward the values she lived by—compassion, kindness, and a deep commitment to making the world a better place for others.

Together, we can make a difference, just as Wendy did every single day.

Thank you for your support and for keeping Wendy's memory alive. She may no longer be with us, but her legacy of love, laughter, and giving will never fade.

Running for Bowel Cancer UK: Edinburgh Marathon 2025

In May 2025, myself, Maxine, Kirsty and Thandy will be lacing up my running shoes and taking on the challenge of the Edinburgh Marathon, but this run is about much more than just crossing the finish line. We are running for a cause that touches the lives of so many—Bowel Cancer UK.

Bowel cancer is a disease that doesn’t get as much attention as others, but it affects tens of thousands of people every year. I’ve seen first-hand the toll it takes on individuals and their families, and I want to do my part to help change that. By running in the Edinburgh Marathon and fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK, I hope to raise awareness, support vital research, and help provide the resources that can save lives.

Why Bowel Cancer UK?

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity, dedicated to supporting those affected by the disease and funding research to improve survival rates. Every year, thousands of people are diagnosed with bowel cancer, and far too many lives are lost. Yet, early detection and awareness can significantly improve outcomes, and this is where we can make a real difference.

Bowel Cancer UK works tirelessly to raise awareness, fund life-saving research, and provide support to those living with the disease. Their work is essential in ensuring that more people survive and thrive after a diagnosis. I’m proud to run in support of this incredible organization and contribute to their life-changing work.

How You Can Help

I’m aiming to raise as much money as I can for Bowel Cancer UK, and I need your support to make this possible. Your donation, big or small, will directly support the charity’s vital work in research, support services, and awareness campaigns.

Here’s how you can get involved:

• Donate: Every contribution counts, no matter the size. Your generosity will fund research that could change lives.

• Spread the Word: Share this blog with your friends, family, and colleagues. The more people who know about this cause, the greater the impact we can have.

Thank You for Your Support

This marathon will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to what those affected by bowel cancer go through every day. By supporting this cause, we can ensure that others have a better chance at survival and a brighter future.

Thank you for joining us on this journey, whether through a donation, spreading awareness, or cheering us on from the sidelines. Together, we can help make a real difference.

Stay tuned for updates on our training journey and let’s make every mile count for Bowel Cancer UK!

With gratitude,

Clare and #teamwendy 😊
