As part of Claremont’s Christmas festivities the Senior School will once again be participating in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day. This is fantastic charity which ensures that children around the world are well-fed, healthy, happy and learning. We kindly ask that all pupils who participate donate a minimum of £1 to this great cause. To give you an idea of where your donations go:

In 2021 Save the Children spent £236 million helping those in need-

• £65 million was spent on emergency aid such as helping children to resettle in the UK after fleeing the war in Ukraine

• £46 million was spent on education. This included helping the 1.6 billion pupils worldwide who were unable to go to school during covid to get back on track with their learning. The money was also spent on helping the 10 million children who Save the Children predict will never return to school after the covid crisis

• Finally £ 31 million was spent on Health. Some of this money was spent on training up doctors and midwives in low income countries to reduce the rates of infant mortality during child birth.
