My story:
I used to find running extremely tedious. If you do too, I hear you.
Fast forward 4 years from when I started, it has not only grown on me, I absolutely love it.
I’ve run 5ks, 10ks and the Manchester half-marathon, and I know for a fact that it’s one of the most rewarding experiences, because of the great atmosphere and exceptional side support.
It has recently dawned on me that living in England at this moment in time, I cannot miss the experience of running the London Marathon.
Little did I know that it’s so hard to get in! The London Marathon is the most popular marathon on the planet. They operate a ballot system and the enrolment window had passed when I checked, but doing my research I learnt that I had a chance to get a place if I committed to fundraising for a charity.
So here I am! Thinking what could be more challenging? Running 42k or fundraising £1,900 for a charitable cause. I honestly know both are hard, I’ve fundraised for 2 great causes before, and I like to stretch myself for my own growth and to support others.
So I picked Whizz Kidz!
Whizz Kidz is a UK-based charity focused on providing wheelchairs, opportunities, and inclusion for children and young people with disabilities.
I chose to support and bring awareness to Whizz Kidz because they provide invaluable resources for these kids, without the strong public recognition that other charities have.
Over 75,000 young people in the UK need to use a wheelchair to be mobile. Unfortunately, they cannot access the equipment that meets their needs through local services.
I’m hoping to make Whizz Kidz’s work visible because, with more support, they can impact more children’s lives for the better.
By donating you’re not only making my desire to run the London marathon possible, but more importantly, you’ll be supporting disabled children to lead fun, active and independent lives.
Thank you so much!
