Story
In September, I will be running the Richmond Marathon in order to raise money for Sense.
Sense is a national Charity that supports people who are deafblind and those with complex disabilities, to be understood, connected and valued. They are there for every person who faces communication barriers in a world that relies on being able to see and hear well to be connected. Sense helps unlock barriers to communication so no one is isolated, left out or unable to fulfil their potential.
The work that Sense does is particularly meaningful to me having spent this year working with children who have Severe and Complex Learning Difficulties including Autism. I have seen first hand the life-changing impact interventions can have through supporting independence and providing children with the means to express themselves and build relationships with others.
Here are some examples of how your donations can help Sense:
- £10 could help pay towards an initial one-to-one communication session with a Sense specialist. This could introduce a child to a special language programme.
- £20 could create a mini-sensory environment for a child in a hospital bed.
- £50 could pay for a hydrotherapy swimming session for a child (or adult) on their first Sense Holiday.
A donation of any amount will help this charity to continue improving the lives of thousands living with deafblindness or complex disabilities across the UK.
