Story
This year, I’m on a mission to clock up as many miles as these little legs can carry me.
In April, I’ll once again take on the London Marathon, and in July I’ll tackle the Race to the Stones - a 50K trail run and my first-ever ultramarathon. For that one, I’ll be running alongside my mum (an admittedly wild way to celebrate her 50th birthday).
Running has taught me a lot about resilience: about staying steady when things get uncomfortable, and about continuing forward even when stopping would be easier. These challenges echo the Japanese concept of misogi - a test that carries at least a 50% chance of failure. For me, this is a way of reframing what I believe is possible and stepping beyond the limits I set for myself.
This year, I’m fundraising for Scene & Heard, a unique playwriting charity and professional theatre company that works with inner-city children to boost self-esteem and raise aspirations. Through my work, I’ve seen first-hand how powerful support, creativity, and community can be in shaping opportunities and opening new paths for young people. Scene & Heard creates space for young people to take on their own misogi: they are mentored to write their own plays for professional performance, encouraged to recognise their strengths, and supported in exploring the full potential of their imagination – all through the magic of theatre.
Their work with young people isn’t abstract to me. Having spent much of my professional life navigating and witnessing complex systems, I believe wholeheartedly in early, empowering interventions that are rooted in respect, creativity, and possibility.
Every mile - from training runs to race day - is a reminder that small, consistent effort adds up.
If you’re able to support, whether that’s £5 or £50, it genuinely makes a difference.
Thank you for helping turn all these long training runs into something bigger than just a medal.
