Story
I have been deeply moved by many lost lives due to brain tumours, not only in our own family but in the families and friends of special people around me. Most recently, a swimming friend lost her daughter, Ria, with a gbm4 brain tumour. She lost her fight for life on 5th August 2021 after a fight of 2 years and 7 months. She was just 25 with her whole life in front of her.
It is 4 years since my last open water swim, as the Great East Swim was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic. I had so many kind sponsorships in 2021 and sadly the Great East Swim was again cancelled due to blue green algae. I swam 1.5 miles in 63 minutes in the swimming pool instead!
This year, I have again chosen to swim a mile, on a course through the middle of Alton Water. It is an early morning swim, as everyone has to be out of the water by 10am.
I would be so grateful for any support you are able to give, not only for Brain Tumour Research, but also for me as the distance and the cold water will be a challenge, certainly not a walk in the park!
Thank you,
Claudine x
