Story
We are honoured to be running the London Marathon 2025 as part of the Alzheimer's Society team in memory of our Grandad, Jimmy Chapman, who passed away in December 2023.
Grandad grew up in Islington and lived in London for his whole life, working at Smithfield Meat Market. Grandad was your typical 'Londoner' born and bred, hence why it means so much to us to be running the London Marathon in his memory.
The Alzheimer's Society is a cause close to our hearts as during the later years of Grandad's life, like his siblings Ginger and Nobby, he was diagnosed with dementia. This is such a debilitating disease which affects too many. It was so sad to watch Grandad's mind fade away and the confusion and anger this brought him, all whilst his body continued to fight.
The Alzheimer's Society provide crucial support and resources for those affected by the disease and their families. Their work in research, care, and advocacy is invaluable. We are deeply grateful for any contribution you can make, no matter how small. Your generosity will not only honour Grandad's memory but also bring hope to countless others who are affected by dementia.
Thank you,
Clayton & Cara
xx
