Story
Hi my name is Cliff Johnson , I am 69 in September this year.
My cancer journey started almost 20 years ago, I was around 50 yrs of age. My first symptoms was an annoying cough, sore throat and a change in voice. The change in voice was what made me wonder what was wrong.
After several consultations, it was discovered I had cancer of the Larynx, being on one of my vocal cords. The cancer was removed by laser surgery, followed by several weeks of radiotherapy. I managed to get the all clear and rang the bell.
However sadly, the cancer returned and I required additional surgery. Over the last 18 years, I have had several scares, but thanks to the amazing follow on care by The Liverpool Head & Neck Centre, I am still here healthy Surviving.
I decided to try & give something back, so I am organising a charity fundraiser on 10th April 2026 at The Fleetwood Hesketh, Fylde Road, Southport
Recently, my friend Paul noticed his voice changed and because of what I have gone through this helped him seek medical advice, and though it is early days, cancer is suspected. He is still undergoing tests & awaiting an operation. If it wasn't for all I have been going through, he might have left it.
So thank you so much to The Liverpool Head & Neck Centre. I wouldn't be here without you.
Thank you for reading & thanks in advance for donating no matter how small. It all helps
