Story
The Climb It Challenge is an event held over 3 separate days to raise money for The Woodland Trust who protect the ecosystems of wildlife by maintaining and restoring our woods.
The Woodland Trust aim to plant 50 million native trees to restore existing woods in the UK, each tree removes around 25kg of CO2 from the atmosphere annually, so the planned 50 million will remove a significant amount, helping to tackle climate change.
The challenge will be to climb 3 of Wales’ highest peaks, in all we will be trekking 17 miles and ascending 2334 meters. It won’t be easy, but it is all for a great cause and just because it is for charity that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun taking part.
Our first peak will be Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon in English) in North Wales, standing at 1085m, this will take an estimated 6 to 8 hours to conquer, secondly we will scale Cader / Cadair Idris a bit further south but still part of Eryri (Snowdonia) national park at 893m, which will take us 5 to 6 hours, lastly Pen-Y-Fan in South Wales at 886m, which should take us around 4 hours (these estimates are to reach the top and come back down).
