Climb, Care, Conquer: The Kirkwood Nurses Three Peaks Journey

Derbyshire Three Peaks Challenge · 20 June 2025
A group of Kirkwood Nurses are taking on the 29.5km Derbyshire Three Peaks Challenge this June.
As a group of nurses working on the Inpatient Unit at The Kirkwood, we see every day how vital and valuable our services are to the people of Kirklees. We provide safety, security and comfort for patients and families who are in need of support in the most difficult and challenging times.
Our Hospice needs our help now more than ever. Recently, The Kirkwood announced that they’re “devastated that we are proposing to make significant cuts to our services as we face the worst financial crisis in our history.
Over the past three years, The Kirkwood has faced unprecedented financial challenges, leading to significant losses. We need to take action now to ensure we can continue to provide the very best palliative and end of life care for as many patients as possible – not just now but in the future too.”
As nurses, we go above and beyond daily for our patients and their families, but to us, in these challenging times, that just isn’t enough. We want to challenge ourselves and help fundraise and go that extra mile to really show how much The Kirkwood means to us all.
Follow us along on our journey as we take on the 29.5km hike in (hopefully) under 10 hours and help us raise some money for our much loved Kirkwood!
Your £10 donation could fund a virtual wellbeing session for a patient living with heart failure.
A donation of £50 could pay for specialist counselling support for a patient and their family.
£100 could provide vital support to a patient in their own home from one of The Kirkwood Nurses.
The Kirkwood are here to support anyone affected by a life limiting illness, every step of the way. Right now, over 3,000 people in Kirklees are living with an illness from which they will not recover. Your support means we’re here for them.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
