Story
Many of you will know that our mom / (mom in law) has been unwell since last summer and she is currently back in Heartlands (for the second time) undergoing tests. We hope we are nearing a diagnosis after what has been a difficult 6 months.
During both admissions the consultants, doctors and nurses at Heartlands have been wonderful, all trying to do their best whilst working within the constraints of a difficult and under funded NHS
So, one evening over a few beers, we decided to give something back and take on the National Three Peaks Challenge. This event attempts to climb the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours. A distance of 23 miles with a total ascend of 10,000 ft.
It's an incredibly intense day with 462 miles of travelling in between the peaks....only 40% of people do it within 24 hours and 10% don't complete it at all!
So, whatever you can afford, please sponsor us and make it worth our while. The charity helps to support patients, families and staff at Heartlands for the added extras that the NHS cannot fund including equipment, facilities and initiatives to help patient well being.
We'll start some training at some point (at the time of writing we are 4 weeks away, we've done one 2 hour training walk up the Malvern's that ended in the pub!) so wish us luck!
