Clive's 70th Year fundraiser for Open Kitchen Social Club CIO

Clive Macdonald is raising money for Open Kitchen Social Club CIO

Walk the Peak District Boundary

Open Kitchen Social Club provides free, shared meals to asylum seekers, the homeless and socially isolated people in Sheffield. Meals cater for all dietary needs, are all Halal and prepared from fresh ingredients. Members can volunteer with food preparation and cooking and are supported with ESOL classes. Members can access food hygiene training, digital skills courses, day trips into the countryside and cultural events in the city.

Story

To celebrate my 70th year I am taking on a new challenge - I am walking the the 190 miles of the CPRE Peak District National Park Boundary Walk and raising funds for the charity Open Kitchen Social Club

Open Kitchen Social Club, where I am a Trustee and volunteer, provides a hot nutritious meal free of charge and a safe welcoming space for 200+ people each week. The charity supports those facing food poverty and/or social isolation.

A team of volunteers prepare and serve food and facilitate the social club. The charity also supports our 50+ active volunteers, many of whom are from the communities we serve, to gain confidence and skills.

OKSC has benefitted from, and continues to seek, the support of charitable foundations. This funding is increasingly difficult to access. We cannot afford permanent staff or professional fundraisers.

The charity has been successful undertaking local private catering assignments, the profits from these cover some of the costs of our work.

But this is not enough. The generosity of people like you is crucial to our charity continuing to do its essential work. Individual donations are a crucial part of our future.

I am undertaking this challenge of the 20 stages of the walk through the Autumn of 2025 and into the Spring of 2026. The charity needs your much valued donations and seeing them rolling in will spur me on to complete the walk.

Please donate now! Many thanks, Clive
