What we're doing...
As a family we're running 2.5 London Marathons in 2026 and hoping to raise £5500 for Meningitis Now!
Meningitis Now is a charity that provides specialist support to those who have been affected by meningitis, and aims to save future lives by supporting research, raising awareness, and campaigning for vaccines.
Why it's important to us...
25 years ago, as an 18-month-old, Sam was rushed to hospital with Meningococcal Septicaemia and his parents were told he wouldn't survive. Thanks to incredible care and the support of charities like Meningitis Now, he survived something that many don’t.
Sam was incredibly lucky to make a full recovery. Outcomes are improving thanks to research and medical advancements, but even today, over 1 in 10 people with meningococcal infections will die. Up to 1 in 5 survivors of meningococcal meningitis have permanent neurological effects such as blindness, deafness or seizure disorders.
Now, 25 years on, Sam and Caitlin are running their first ever marathon together, and Angela is running her first ever half-marathon - the London Landmarks half-marathon (12th April 2026). We're hoping to raise £5,500 for Meningitis Now, to give back to a cause that changed Sam's life. This will be part of a fundraising project to raise £25,000 in 2026, £1,000 for each year since Sam's illness.
