What's happening?
We will be hosting the Premium event in the office through week commencing 23rd March with the Tombolo being on the 24th March, in the Hub between 11-12.
Why are we doing this?
Brain Tumour Research is very close to my heart as my late husband was diagnosed with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma brain tumour at the age of
34 back in 1993. He had been suffering with horrendous headaches and seizures. Our children were only 6 and 8 at the time and this came as a huge
shock to us all as he had always been so well, fit and strong.
Surgery was performed to de-bulk the tumour and we were told it was a case of ‘watch and wait’ whilst having scans every 6 months.
We tried to live as normal a life as we could and over the following 15 years there were a further 5 major episodes including more surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
There were times when he could not walk, talk, eat but still he tried to remain positive and never once asked ‘why me?’
This disease finally beat him in May 2008 when he was just 49.
The stats show that brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer but gets hardly any funding towards research.
So I can’t think of a better way to raise funds than having some fun with ‘Wear a Hat Day’
Thank you so much for your support.
