Story

This year I'm setting myself the challenge to run 10k not because I love running (if only) but rather to raise awareness and funds for a charity that means a lot to me: the Psoriasis Association.

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition that affects millions - 1 in 50 people in the UK - causing uncomfortable and often debilitating symptoms like itchy, inflamed skin patches. Beyond the physical challenges, psoriasis can take a toll on mental health and overall quality of life.

I myself was diagnosed at age 6 with nail psoriasis, which was initially only a cosmetic issue. I missed out on nail polish, not the end of the world. However, in my late teens it developed into psoriatic arthritis, which would sometimes trigger swellings in my fingers - "sausage fingers" - and it was terribly painful, and ugly!

After a couple of years of trial and error to find treatment, I have been incredibly lucky to find a biological injection treatment that not only prevents inflammations but also has enabled my nails to grow "normally" for the first time since age 6! Today, I get to live my life comfortably and pain-free, however it couldn't have been without the incredible advances in psoriasis research in recent years.

Any donations would be hugely appreciated and will directly fund the Psoriasis Association dedicated to psoriasis research, education, and patient advocacy.

Thanks a bunch! Let the training begin :-)
