Thyroid Cancer Support Group Wales helps patients and their families in many different ways.

We are very lucky to have some of the foremost thyroid cancer specialists and surgeons in the world based in South Wales, because although thyroid cancer is rare, it is increasing at one of the highest rates of all cancers.

Thyroid Cancer Support Group Wales is run by a small group of volunteers, including previous patients, that thinks big. The group mission includes raising public awareness and interest in the disease, its treatment and prognosis. The group has already produced its own information videos and reading materials, runs a helpline and offers one to one 'buddy' support whenever it is needed. Thyroid cancer awareness month is held each September.

In addition to its excellent work with the public and with patients, the group also supports specialists working in the field of Thyroid Cancer through its ongoing commitment to funding of the Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer Tissue Bank at Velindre Cancer Centre which helps facilitate research leading to improvements in treatment of this form of cancer.

Since the challenge of the pandemic, fundraising is more important than ever to this small but tirelessly dedicated group.
