Goldenhar UK is a charity setup to support families and individuals affected by Goldenhar Syndrome. A condition that causes facial deformities at birth, including (but not limited to) missing ears, hearing loss, skin tags and a cleft palate.

Story

We're cycling the 190 miles Coast & Castles route starting in Tynemouth and finishing in Edinburgh to raise money for Goldenhar UK charity.

Goldenhar Syndrome is an 'umbrella' term for a wide range of bone abnormalities affecting the face and sometimes the vertabrae. Our children often have a number of facial differences and hearing problems. During their childhood, children with the syndrome can have a number of surgeries to help with hearing and jaw function, to reconstruct ears and create symmetry in the face.

We are friends and family of children born with this rare condition. Affected families have found a lot of joy in being part of the Goldenhar UK group. The group hold a family day every year where the children are growing up together and sharing their life experiences. Many stay in the group into adulthood. If it wasn't for the group, our children might never have met another child going through what they are going through. Parents also rely on the support of the other parents and adults with Goldehars. Without fundraising, the charity can't provide these brilliant and essential events.

Thank you for your support.
