Story
4 Firms, 1 Mission: Candy Cane Lane Giving Campaign
Four Houston law firms (ALP Law Firm, Culpepper Law Group, Mattox Law Firm, and The Law Office of Whitney L. Thompson) are co-hosting the 4th Annual Cocktails & Connections: Candy Cane Lane event to raise $5,000 for HAWC to sustain free, life-saving services for local survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking.
- Rising Need vs. Unpredictable Funding: Domestic violence and sexual assault incidents are increasing while government funding fluctuates, making private philanthropic support essential.
- Critical Community Lifeline: As Greater Houston's largest domestic violence agency, HAWC handles over 58,000 hotline calls and 4,000 live chats annually.
- Protecting Children & Families: Half of all HAWC campus residents are children; donations fund 135 supportive housing units, an on-site HISD school, and free childcare.
- Moving from Crisis to Thriving: Contributions directly support the long-term transition from emergency shelter to stability via 24/7 counseling, housing, and legal advocacy.
- Advocacy Beyond the Courtroom: Enables the host law firms to extend their legal advocacy directly into life-saving community protection.
