Story
Hello! I'm Corinne, and on 5th September 2026, I'll be participating in the 100km South Coast ultra march challenge - a speedy walk from Eastbourne to Arundel with a 24 hour time limit. I'm raising money for the RSPCA Ashford Garden Cattery, which is a self-funded branch and they really need support this year to keep operating. Here's their story:
"We are a local independently funded charity, operating under the umbrella of the National RSPCA, dedicated to improving the lives of both animals and people in our community. It costs £250k annually to stay open and service our community.
At our Ashford Garden Cattery, we rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome cats that have been abandoned, injured, neglected, or surrendered during times of crisis. Every cat that comes through our doors receives veterinary treatment, care, and socialisation before being matched with a loving local forever home. Since opening in 2006, we have proudly rehomed over 5,000 cats and continue to support between 200 –300 each year.
This year, 2026 marks a milestone—our 20th year of animal rescue, community support, and education.
As a self-funded RSPCA branch, we have to find every penny ourselves. Each cat pod costs around £200 per week to run, and it costs approximately £5,000 every week to keep our services operating for the community. With rising veterinary bills, utilities, day-to-day costs, combined with the loss of some key funding sources, the support of our local community is more important than ever to enable our services to continue operating."
