Col’s fundraiser for British Heart Foundation

Colin Booth is raising money for British Heart Foundation

Purple Gecko saints way ricochet ultramarathon · 5 September 2026

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Hi, I’m Col, most of you know my journey, but here’s a quick reminder and an introduction for who those who don’t:

As most of you know over the last 10 years I’ve done a bit of running and hiking 🤣.

In January 2024, all my running and hiking had to stop as I was diagnosed with a heart defect and was in need of double heart bypass.

This came as a massive shock and I found the journey very hard. I’m very privileged to be back doing what I enjoy thanks to the help of the surgeon's, family and friends and I thank you all from the bottom of my now, well-working heart.

These life saving operations wouldn’t be possible without the research done by the British Heart Foundation - who are solely charity funded.

On the 5th of September this year I am attempting to run the Saints Way Ricochet a 57 mile ultramarathon organised by Purple Gecko Events. A 57 mile run in my 57th year… how ironic!!

Purple Gecko kindly offered me a complimentary upgrade to the Ricochet after learning of my journey and fundraising, which I am very grateful for.

Please donate whatever you can afford. 70-78 pence of every pound raised by the British Heart Foundation, goes to fighting heart and circulatory disease, so every penny helps.

Thank you all and wish me and my poor legs good luck 🏃🍀🤞
