Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last January I broke my shoulder and was in pain for months, I couldn't walk on unmade paths as even a tiny slip was shockingly painful. I missed being able to walk on Cold Springs reserve so much. Being close to nature, surrounded by wildlife is know to reduce pain and boost mental well-being.
Now I am mostly recovered but it made me realise that there are many people who are permanently limited to the one accessible path on the reserve so I'm setting up this fundraiser to help Cumbria Wildlife Trust put an accessible path around the top of the reserve.
Coldsprings reserve is really well used and there's a steady stream of walkers and runners using the top path most mornings. When it's muddy the path is spreading out across the top area. The path will reduce this significantly and look after the ground at the top of the reserve.
Cumbria Wildlife Trust did a consultation locally which came out in favour of the path. There's a local steering group of volunteers who help out at the reserve who also support the new path. Following this the Wildlife Trust have secured most of the funding for the path work from Cumbria Waste Management Environment Trust but need £5000 match funding to get the grant.
Please donate and let's give as many Penrith folk as possible access to this lovely place.
