Cole Waterhouse is raising money for Springhill Hospice (Rochdale)
Story
In August 2023 our CEO’s father, Steve Flood, opened our building Eda with Damian and family by his side. Steve was immensely proud of everything Cole Waterhouse had achieved throughout the years and upon unveiling Eda he described Eda as, “majestic, tremendous and beautiful. . . these homes will be rainbows of love for years to come.”
Sadly, following Steve’s terminal prostate cancer diagnosis in September 2022, he was then diagnosed with a primary grade 4 brain tumour in August 2023.
Since then, the team at Springhill Hospice have provided palliative care for Steve at the hospice and home. They have been incredible with Steve and his family, providing the best care they can. The Springhill team were very fond of Steve and despite all the challenges he faced, he held onto his charm and humour throughout.
On the morning of Monday 11th March 2024, Steve lost his battle and passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Chrissie and family by his side. The hospice team were there for Steve and his family until the very end and provided a huge comfort that morning.
One of Steve’s final wishes was for Damian and the Cole Waterhouse team to raise money for the hospice. So here we are taking on two challenges to raise as much as we can to help Springhill Hospice on their fundraising journey.
In 2024 Cole Waterhouse will be undertaking a 55 mile fundraising bike ride from Springhill Hospice Rochdale to the UKREIFF Conference in Leeds on 20th May.
Part of the team will also be taking part in the Manchester 10k run and Half Marathon the following weekend (26th May).
Springhill Hospice provides care & support to people with a life limiting illness & their families. To help achieve this, Springhill's expert team work night and day in people’s homes and at the Hospice to offer specialist care. Springhill also support people emotionally, provide practical information & help them maintain their independence and dignity.
