Story
Every day, around the coasts of the UK and Ireland, RNLI volunteers are kitting up to answer desperate calls for help. But they can’t launch to the rescue without support. The RNLI relies on donations to fund the kit and training volunteers need to save lives at sea and return safely home. Coleg Llandrillo Public Services students are fundraising to help them stay ready to rescue.
As part of this, we are taking on the Mayday Mile and the Lift a Lifeboat fitness challenge, pushing ourselves physically to raise money for this incredible cause. At the Rhos-on-Sea site, Coleg Llandrillo Public Services students will aim to lift a combined total of 18,000kg — the equivalent weight of a Shannon class lifeboat used by Llandudno RNLI.
For the Mayday Mile, Coleg Llandrillo Public Services students at the Rhyl site will be engaging with the local community by walking a mile from the RNLI station and back, raising awareness as well as vital funds for the charity.
These challenges represent the strength, endurance and teamwork needed by RNLI crews every time they are called into action.
Any support you can give will make a real difference — helping to keep lifeboats operational, crews trained, and ensuring that when the call comes, the RNLI is always ready to respond.
