Story
Nacoa (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics) is a Bristol based charity founded in 1990 to provide help and support for everyone affected by a parent’s drinking.
We believe that every child has the right to a happy childhood and to live a creative and meaningful life but when drink is the family secret they are more likely to experience family violence, neglect and other problems in their own homes.
Since embarking on my sobriety journey 3 years ago, I've absorbed content around alcohol and not just the effects it has on your physical and mental health, but also the effect on the people around you. Especially children.
Whilst I have been lucky enough to only skate around "grey area drinking" I have experienced and witnessed lots of negativity around alcohol, and in particular the effects it has on children - the innocent.
Living with alcohol addiction, whether suffering from it or dealing with it alongside someone is a daily battle. This is why I want to run every day (my average will be 5.5 miles a day) to clock up every day this year that someone could be living with addiction.
I have a big target to hit. Thank you for visiting my page and making a donation
