Story
Hi there…
Firstly if you are reading this I’d like to thank you so much as it means everything to us to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity.
A bit of background as to why I am undertaking this challenge.
Back in 2021 our son who was then 16 and just left school started to mention that he wasn’t feeling great and had noticed lumps on one side of his neck.
One Thursday morning my wife was taking him to college and he just said ‘mum.. I feel so unwell’ so she decided to take him to A&E.
They took him straight in and that day he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Fin underwent a 8 month regime of intense chemotherapy which took a toll on his body.
The shocking thing was that I never realised how many young people are diagnosed with cancer every week.
Our story has a happy ending and Fin is now 3 years in remission.
We were so humbled by all the support and help we were given both emotionally and financially by this wonderful charity and now I feel it is time to repay their generosity by helping to raise as much money as possible to help another family going through this ordeal.
So I have decided to use my love of cycling to undertake a challenge by riding over 900km in 7 days! Doing this with me will be my cycling buddy Andy Hawkins and we will be supported by my amazing wife. The “loop” we have planned starts at Fareham, onto Long Crendon in Buckinghamshire, Witney in Oxford, then on to Cardiff and Bristol, down to Plymouth and returning to Fareham. This will be a physical and mental challenge with some days riding more than 150km.
Please give as generously as you can as this charity makes such a difference to families going through this awful time.
Many thanks xx
