Kevin & myself are walking the West Highland Way, 96 miles over 5 days to raise funds for the STAR Project in Paisley. STAR Project is a community facility supporting a wide cross section of people locally

The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic saw engagement with all our services experience an unprecedented increase; emergency food/essentials support increased by over 1500%, and around a 400% Project-wide increase. Total engagement numbers then dropped slightly throughout 2021by 18%. We had hoped for some respite, for time to recover from the impact of the pandemic but the past year has once again seen some of our figures remain high, particularly in regard to workshops, as we were hit with the cost-of-living crisis.

We have secured a long-term lease for the adjoining building and continue to work with Architects, Dress For The Weather, to help us renovate and plan. This will eventually lead to a 100% increase in floor space. It has been a slow but steady process and we are delighted with the concept plans. We hope to secure large capital funding towards this during 2023/24 but will be focussing on our Winter Garden canopy and signage in the meantime

STAR Project remains a vital anchor point for many, more so now than ever before. It is also evident that our reach continues to extend, at times beyond Scotland, and we have not lost sight that other Renfrewshire communities would benefit from a STAR Project on their doorstep.
