Wylam Celtic ‘Legends’ page for The People's Kitchen Newcastle

Charity Football Match featuring Wylam Celtic ‘Legends’ · 24 May 2025
On 3rd April 2020 the world lost one of its most genuine, brilliant people in Peter Walsh. A loving husband and father, a highly regarded member of Trinity Chambers and to us, a charismatic, mad as a box of frogs, eccentric but brilliant manager of our Wylam Celtic Football Club.
On Saturday 24th May 2025 (3pm Kick Off), some of the many players who played under Walshy for Wylam Celtic will attempt to bend over and strap on their boots for a one off game in Peter’s memory raising some money for The People’s Kitchen, a charity chosen by his lovely wife Debbie. The match will take place in Corbridge at Corbridge United FC's ground located within Tynedale Rugby Club (NE45 5AY). The ground is right next to Corbridge Railway Station so you can get the train if you want to join us for a beer afterwards.
Come along and laugh at the overweight, out of practice, almost elderly and surprisingly spiritedly lads as they take to the field, some in well over 10 years!
More about The People's Kitchen...
Being warm, clean, clothed, fed and having someone to talk to, is something so many of us take for granted, but for many of our Friends that is just not the case.
The People's Kitchen provides a safe space for our Friends to have a hot meal, a warm drink and use the bathroom.
We are open 365 days, serving 250-300 meals each day. We operate entirely with volunteers and receive no government funding.
We rely on the generosity of the public to raise the funds we need - please support us so we can support others.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
