ASCERT work across NI addressing alcohol, drug & substance related issues supporting 17,000 young people, families & individuals with these challenges annually. We provide effective prevention, intervention, training & support services to help reduce harm & support positive change & recovery.

Story

HI we are Ashleigh and Colleen.

Having a combined 27 years between us working within ASCERT services we have seen firsthand the devastating impact of substance use not only on the individual but the family and loved ones who surround them.

This is a subject close to both our hearts both professionally and personally. Our combined passion for supporting families and for the use of complimentary therapies has led us to take the plunge (literally) to help raise funds to support our Family Complimentary therapy programme in ASCERT.

This programme offers a space for family members to have access to up to 6 sessions of reflexology with a qualified therapist. For many family members it is difficult to consider their own well-being weighed down with justifiable worry and concern and trying to get the right help for their loved one. We are fond of the saying ‘you cant pour from an empty cup.’ In ASCERT we encourage family members to take time to look after their own well-being so that they can experience better health and be in a better position to care for those around them.

The benefits of reflexology to the mental, emotional and physical well-being are immeasurable but don’t take our word for it, here is some of the feedback from family members who have accessed this service over the past number of months.

“It helped make things lighter an easier to carry.”

“It was so lovely to feel your shoulders and body relax and know that for 1hr no one could interrupt you. It was your protected hour in a world of chaos when your loved one is misusing. It made the chaos a little more manageable.”

“Absolutely fantastic. Was an amazing service I would highly recommended to any parent to step out of the chaos for an hour, its ok and should not feel guilty as it helps ease the stress and pain a little.”

We believe there is hope in every situation & with the right support hope at the right time, every person can achieve change for the better.

Your support will offer care, hope and support to family members living with addiction across NI. Thank You.
