Story
About Two Wheels to Mayo.
Two Wheels to Mayo is a charity cycling challenge taking place on the 23rd and 24th of August 2025 with the aim of raising essential funds for Cancer Fund for Children’s second therapeutic respite centre on the shore of beautiful Lough Corrib, Mayo. The event will coincide with the commencement of the respite centre’s construction and has been organised by Connolly & Fee who have been appointed as main contractor for this fantastic project.
An ambitious target of £30,000 has been set, with your generous donations we can reach this goal.
By donating you are helping Cancer Fund for Children support children dealing with cancer as well as their families across Ireland. Cyclists are embarking on a journey from the existing Daisy Lodge centre in Newcastle County Down to the site of the new centre in Mayo. In this new 30,000 square foot location families will be able to recuperate during short breaks and find relaxation in the beautiful landscape. The new facility will allow for double the number of children to receive vital emotional and practical support. Opening the new centre will increase the number of children and families supported from 1,800 to 4,000. Daisy Lodge is equipped with therapy suites, outdoor areas, and a cinema for families to use and make precious memories. Children can find communities and feel empowered thanks to the charity. Cancer Support Specialists provide exceptional care and enhance the experience.
About the Cancer Fund for Children.
The charity works to support families experiencing childhood cancer by providing therapeutic and emotional support. Their care focuses on guiding the entire family through the devastation of a childhood cancer diagnosis and treatment which turns families lives upside down. The Newcastle Daisy Lodge Centre first opened its doors to children with cancer in 2014 as the first of its kind and has since supported over 4,000 families. The new Daisy Lodge in the scenic County Mayo has been co-designed by children, parents and staff to provide optimum support. The facility will allow children with cancer and their families to recuperate, rest and make memories together. The tranquil and soothing qualities of the surrounding nature will promote positive wellbeing for the visitors. The core values of the charity are powerful connections, bold ambition, courage, compassion and integrity.
