Story
This year, I will be taking on the London 2 Brighton Ultra Challenge, running 100km from Richmond to Brighton on 23rd of May to support a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart — Dementia UK.
My grandmother is living with dementia. Watching someone you love slowly change over many years can be heartbreaking in ways that are hard to put into words. I am taking on this challenge now, for her, while she is hopefully still able to comprehend what I am doing and why I am doing it. Knowing she is there waiting at the finish line will provide invaluable motivation on the day.
Dementia UK provides vital support through specialist dementia nurses, helping families navigate the realities of the condition with compassion, expertise and understanding. Their work makes an enormous difference to both the people facing some of the hardest moments of their lives. Dementia doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed; it impacts entire families and is often confusing and overwhelming for those who devote their time to supporting those suffering with one of the many degenerative brain diseases.
If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, you’ll be helping fund life-changing support for families affected by dementia. Thank you so much for reading, supporting and being part of this challenge with me.
