168km for 168 Days Until viability
On the 30th of December through to the 31st I plan to end the year by taking on something very personal. I will be running 168km which is 4 marathons back to back at Par running track, which works out at a total of 420 laps. The distance represents the 168 days before a baby has made it to viability, every kilometre covered will represent 1 day of that fragile line between hope and heartbreak.
Our daughter, Iris, was born before that point, and we never got to bring her home. Since then we have had our amazing highs from welcoming our beautiful boy Forrest in January to huge lows of another loss more recently this year. This run is for Forrest to honour his big sister’s memory, and the younger sibling we sadly lost this year. I’m also doing it for the families who are still going through what we went through, in the hope that they can feel less alone.
The money I raise will go to Sands, the UK’s leading stillbirth and neonatal death charity. Sands have been there for Ashley and me through so much, and I’d love to give something back so they can keep helping other families when they need it most.
