Story

I'm running the 2025 TCS London Marathon for Alzheimer's Research UK! It's the classic story of entering the ballot and not quite computing that you might have to run the marathon if you get picked. My first thought on reading that email was: "oh no".

Well I've dug out my running shoes and you can see me running around Cambridge and Newmarket, sometimes with a dog in tow.

I'm running for Alzheimer’s Research UK. It is the UK’s leading dementia research charity and my beautiful wife, Ellie, works in the sporting team. Not only do I get the lovely and thoughtful encouragement emails, but I also get in-person one-on-one support like "you've not been on a run in a while", and "can you move your running belt? It's been here for days". This year, the London Marathon also takes place on the 27th April, a special day for our family as it's Ellie's late Mum's birthday. She loved the London Marathon, so I'll be thinking of Janet around the course.

We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia. With your support, we will keep going until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia.

Thank you for supporting me as I run 26.2 miles for a cure!
