Story
Hello, on the 21st November 2025, alongside colleagues at work I will be walking from Royal Preston Hospital to Blackpool Victoria Hospital before continuing onto Blackpool Tower.
The aim of this walk is to raise money for Meningitis Now after a very good friend of mine Cam, and his 5 week old baby both suffered terribly with meningitis.
Cam’s wife is also running the London Marathon for Meningitis Now in April 2026.
Read a little bit more about their story below 🙂

Hello everyone and thankyou for visiting my page. I have set myself the challenge of running the London Marathon on 26th April 2026 for Meningitis Now.
In April 2024, my husband, Cam, became unwell with what he described as a severe headache, vomiting and sensitivity to light and was admitted to hospital with suspected meningitis. As if this wasn’t worrying enough, whilst dropping him off at the hospital, our (at the time) 5 week old baby, Freddie also became unwell with a temperature so I took him to A+E to get checked. They completed his observations and straight away pulled the emergency buzzer and rushed him through for immediate intervention, subsequently ending up on High Dependency Unit. Both Cam and Freddie had lumbar punctures and blood cultures which confirmed that they both had Meningitis and Sepsis.
This situation was unimaginably difficult. We had our 2 year old son Alfie, who we missed so much, staying with Grandparents as we were unable to be with him until both Cam and Freddie had recovered. The 4 of us were split up from each other, at the time that we needed each other the most and it was not what we expected to be going through as we were learning to navigate life as a new family of 4.
Meningitis Now is the first meningitis patient group in the world and the only charity dedicated to fighting meningitis in the UK. Their diverse and experienced team provide emotional, practical and financial support for everyone in the UK who has been affected by meningitis, completely free of charge.
I’m hoping to raise £2,500, please donate to such a worthy cause and help me reach my target!
Thankyou,
Emily x
