Story

The annual Battle of the Badges tournament, organised by The Archie Foundation, is a fundraising football tournament where teams from the Police, Fire, NHS, and SAS battle it out.

This isn’t your typical football match; each player is paired with a mascot supported by The Archie Foundation or NHS Grampian.

Connor has been picked as a mascot for Battle Of The Badges due to the support he has received from NHS Grampian and The Archie Foundation throughout his health battles and latterly following his neuro surgery in January.

Connor has worked incredibly hard in his recovery following his surgery in January where although so far his surgery is proving successful, he unfortunately lost the use, movement and strength of the complete right side of his body!! Connor has been amazing and has shown a strength and determination far beyond his 11 years!!! Giving every therapy session 100%, doing it all with the “new version” of his infectious smile on his face, his new found giggle also comes along for the ride and his dream is always in the back of his mind spurring him on every step of the way……for those of you who know Connor you’ll know that he is absolutely car daft, lives, breathes and sleeps cars, unfortunately due to Connor’s condition he was told he would only ever have a 3% chance of driving due to his seizures being so uncontrolled, even with meds he could have upto 40 seizures in a day, when the neuro surgery was suggested, understandably Connor was absolutely terrified at the prospect of it but when he learned that should his surgery be successful his chance of being able to drive would rise to a 65% there was no stopping him, no looking back, it was full speed ahead, he didn’t care about the risks just focussed on his dream and ambition to drive one day…….. now here he is almost 3 months post surgery and not 1 seizure since his op!!! Long may it continue!!!!

Connor is going to be so incredibly proud to walk out on the pitch on the day with his assigned player, who will be playing for ……………. Drumroll 🥁…………… TEAM NHS!!!!!

Please help Connor to raise as much money as possible towards an amazing and very worthwhile charity so that The Archie Foundation can go on helping lots of children and families across our area when they need the help the most!!!

Please share Connors fundraising page far and wide!!!
