Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.
In April 2024 Conor Tait was diagnosed with a stage 3 Wilms tumour, also known as ‘Nephroblastoma’. Although rare, Wilms tumour is the most common form of childhood kidney cancer with around 80 children being diagnosed in the UK each year.
Conor was just 11 months old when he was diagnosed and since then he has undergone major abdominal surgery to remove the tumour and his right kidney, 14 rounds of radiotherapy and is currently part way through 12 cycles of chemotherapy. Whilst his treatment plan is long and hard Conor has shown unbelievable strength and continues to defy the doctors worst prognosis.
A small blessing of his young age is that he knows little about his ordeal. Conor’s family and friends however have been put through the wringer. They have been touched by exceptional health care professionals and supported by incredible charities in Jersey, Southampton and London. One charity in particular who stands out for Conor’s mum, Ciara, and dad, Ian, has been CLIC Sargent. From the start the have been there and ensured that Conor and his family have the support that they need on and off the Island.
So on back to back weekends ‘Conor’s Crew’ made up of family and dear friends who have been touched by Conor, his ordeal and the amazing work of CLIC Sargent are running 2 epic events in Conor’s name for this most worthy Jersey charity.
FRC runners will be tackling the Berlin Marathon on 29 September 2024 and the Jersey Marathon the following weekend on 6 October 2024 alongside the rest of us. Together we aim to raise awareness of Wilms tumours and the great work of CLIC Sargent and raise as much as possible for their cause. All money raised will stay in Jersey and help to ensure that every Jersey family who has a child or young person like Conor diagnosed with cancer receives the support they need.
Please give generously, cheer us on and keep sending good vibes only Conor’s way.
Thank you!
