Four Women. One Journey. One Purpose.

In the last 18 months, four of us in this group of friends have been diagnosed and treated for cancer.

Four moments where life changed instantly.

Four journeys through emergency surgery, appointments, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and even strength we didn’t know we had.

Cancer has tested us physically and emotionally — but it has also shown us resilience, friendship and the power of support.

When Julie and Catrin were diagnosed they decided to meet up for a short walk one day, that simple walk turned out to be a great tonic, it felt less like small talk and more of a therapy session that we could speak openly and honestly and without explanation. Before long Siobhan and Kathy who were on a similar journey joined our group. What started as a quiet walk between two friends grew into a small circle of understanding, strength and shared experience. There was something incredibly powerful about being with people who truly “got it”, the fears, the side effects, the dark humour and the small victories. Together we found comfort, courage and laughter in the middle of it all.

Now, together, on the 25th of April we are walking from Conwy Bridge to Menai Bridge to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

This walk is more than just miles between two bridges.

It represents the distance we’ve each travelled over the past 18 months — the hard days, the fear, the treatment rooms, the waiting, and the determination to keep going.

We are walking to raise money for cancer research to develop kinder, more effective treatment for us all.

Research saves lives. The treatments we received exist because people fundraised before us. Now it’s our turn to give back.
