Run the 2026 Dublin Marathon for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Story

I’m running the 2026 Dublin Marathon in memory of my grandmother, who lived with Alzheimer’s disease, and with love and support for my mum who was her primary carer. I saw first-hand how heartbreaking and exhausting this illness is; not only for the person living with dementia, but for the families who are around every day.

I’ve always had the goal of running a marathon, but it hadn’t been a dated idea. Dublin holds a very special place in my heart as I did my postgraduate studies there, and walked a marathon through the city and Howth before, but I’ve never actually ran one.

In 2024, I ran a half marathon on a whim with barely any training. I made it through on a surprisingly average pace, but winging it clearly wasn’t the way to do it according to the severe soreness of my entire body for days after… Since then, I haven’t run much, but I’ve wanted to come back to running properly, training with intention and respect for the distance. Coming from a sporty family but never being any good at throwing things, sprinting fast or jumping high, endurance running still feels somehow connected enough to athletics. This now feels like the right reason.

I’m proud to be joining #TeamARUK in the 2026 Dublin Marathon, raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia research charity. With your support, they will keep going until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia - and until families like mine have better treatments, answers, and support.

Thank you so much for supporting me as I run for a cure🧡
