Banger Rally Challenge: Glasgow to Monaco and back

Cor Hutton is raising money for Finding Your Feet

Banger Rally Challenge

Finding Your Feet is Scotland’s only nationwide charity supporting amputees, those born without limbs, and their families. We provide peer support, counselling & inclusive activities that reduce isolation and support people to rebuild emotionally, mentally & physically at any stage of their journey.

Story

Right then. I need to tell you what I've signed myself up for.

This August I'm driving from Glasgow to Monaco and back. Over 3,000 miles across 12 days, through 10 countries, over the Alps and along the Cote d'Azur, with a lap of the Monaco F1 circuit then the official finish line in Nice. Then all the way home again.

In a 19-year-old Audi TT with over 120,000 miles on the clock.

I know. I know.

For those of you who don't know my story, in 2013 a simple cough turned into sepsis and I was given a 5% chance of survival. I lost both my hands and both my feet. My family never left my side, and I'm grateful for that every single day. But when I came through it and looked for someone who truly understood what I was living through, I couldn't find them.

So I built Finding Your Feet.

Today FYF is Scotland's only nationwide charity supporting amputees, those born without limbs, and their families. We offer peer support, counselling, well-being services and inclusive clubs and activities. The kind of community I needed and couldn't find when I needed it most.

Now I have two prosthetic legs, two transplanted hands, one third of a lung and a kidney I received in a transplant in 2024. I've been called the bionic woman. I prefer to think of myself as someone who just keeps going.

Which is why I'm driving to Monaco in a banger.

Joining me are fellow Troopers Babs and Andrea in their own cars, my friend Evie, her son Indie, and my son Rory who is a trainee mechanic and will be keeping the convoy alive with gaffer tape and WD40. We are, genuinely, going to need him.

Every penny you donate goes directly into Finding Your Feet's work across Scotland. Peer support for people in the situation I was once in. Community for people who feel alone. Someone who truly understands, because they've been there too.

No matter how tough the road, there is always a way forward.

Please donate if you can. And follow along this August because I promise you it's going to be an adventure.

With love,

Cor x
