Story
I'm running the Paris Marathon 2026 for Dementia UK in honour of my grandfather who passed away last year. My grandad suffered with dementia for the last years of his life. My family done an enormous amount of heavy lifting when it came to his care but wouldn’t have been able to cope without the help of the many nurses who came multiple times daily. I just hoped my family had more emotional support when coming to terms with what was happening. I hope that the money raised can help more families receive the support they need from this fantastic charity.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
