Story
Swimming has always been a massive part of my life. Some of my happiest childhood memories are of our vacations at the Black Sea, where I spent the better part of each day in the water. Later on in life, swimming is what kept me grounded. The rhythm of each stroke, the sound of the waves, the ease with which we move in water are all wonderful ways to counter the more chaotic, noisy, heavy experiences in our lives.
I have been wanting to do a 24-hour team swim for a long time, and I am absolutely delighted to be doing one on the 28th and 29th of June, alongside one of my friends from high school. As teenagers, we spent many nights gathering around the fire pit, dancing to stay warm, and cheering as the sun rises over the lake. This time, we are doing it with a purpose, and swimming for an hour every now and then!
We are taking on this challenge to raise money for Level Water, an incredible charity that provides 1-to-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities. My hope is to be able to give at least 15 kids the possibility to enjoy the freedom and sheer joy that water can provide.
Every £15 funds a life-changing lesson. Please donate what you can and help me make a difference!
